The University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship Summer Founders program has returned for 2018 with eight student startup teams. The teams represent seventeen students from four colleges. Through Aug. 22 the founders will be working to validate their business models and gain customers.

Winners of the Hen Hatch competition were announced during its final round on Tuesday at the World Café Live at the Queen in Wilmington, Delaware.

Hen Hatch, hosted by Horn Entrepreneurship, is the University of Delaware’s premier startup funding competition. With two different tracks, one for UD students and one for alumni, faculty and staff, Hen Hatch provides participants with the opportunity to make connections and collect feedback on their ideas.

Apparel from recycled jeans, lubricants from renewable carbon and housing for the homeless from straw bales are among the sustainable and eco-friendly products being developed by University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship ventures. Companies like AndAgain, RiKarbon and Y Innovations speak to the commitment of the university to maintain and take care of the environment.
