Editor's Note: Snoop was a startup by Andrew Cercena and Nick Novoa that sought to help high school students find the right college. This guest article is the first in a two-part series that explores how one team's startup journey ultimately led to new pathways in entrepreneurship and interest discovery.

When I started Snoop, I was determined to solve the problem that many high school students face before entering college: That they do not know what the college student experience is truly like until they arrive and live on campus for the first time.

University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship welcomes its largest cohort of students to Summer Founders 2020. Twenty-two startup teams totaling 34 students are participating in the 12-week virtual pre-accelerator in which they receive mentorship, education and resources to develop and advance their concepts.

The Blue Hen 17&43 Awards are the University of Delaware’s way of recognizing students and alumni who are part of the most promising new ventures and the fastest-growing companies today.

This past winter, Horn Entrepreneurship assistant professor and Faculty Director of Social Entrepreneurship Stephanie Raible led a group of students on the first ever Social Entrepreneurship study abroad trip.

Picture this: You’re on your college campus, enjoying life thinking, “Wow this is great! What could possibly go wrong?” And now you find yourself in your hometown on the couch fighting with your siblings, all while trying to organize your new life. It seems like none of us have the answers, but we do have some advice that can help in this tornado of a life we’re all living right now. The best thing you can do above all is remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we will all come out as stronger Blue Hens than we were before all of this. So let's walk through your routine while being home and see what tips you can utilize:

It’s not everyday that you find yourself pitching in the presence of the “Tiger King” himself. But for participants of VentureOn’s most recent spring pitch party, the Joe Exotic cameo was just one of the quirks that came with having to pitch virtually.

Vince DiFelice, senior instructor of entrepreneurship and faculty director of venture support,  was awarded the 2020 Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising & Mentoring Award from University of Delaware Faculty Senate Committee on Student and Faculty Honors. This Committee accepts nominations from students, alumni, faculty and staff and selects one faculty member from across the University recognizing their outstanding work in advisement and mentoring students.
