Horn After 10: Joel Amin & Bryce Fender

This article is part of a series celebrating the 10th anniversary of Horn Entrepreneurship by highlighting alumni, their stories and accomplishments.

Bryce Fender and Joel Amin for a long time have wanted to improve the world, and they were well into making their impact when they learned that changing the world involved doing the dishes, and getting dirty at times.

The pair, friends since middle school, acquired life-changing skills through Horn Entrepreneurship. With friend Demetrius M. Thorn, in 2017 they created Wilminvest, which buys and renovates houses, ultimately renting them to families in unstable housing situations while being connected to the social services they need for the duration of their stay.

Summer Founders Accepting Early Admission Applications

This summer be your own boss, receive a grant and work on your startup with other like-minded student entrepreneurs in Horn Entrepreneurship's Summer Founders Pre-Accelerator. Over three months, students can get help from experienced entrepreneurs and investors, obtain a place to work 24/7, and learn more about evidence-based entrepreneurship (and if you want it, earn 3 credits doing so). ReTeen: Living and Learning for Retirees

The time of year all students look forward to, summer break. A time to relax, sleep in and hang out with friends. With three months off, kids can find themselves not doing much other than sitting around and staring at screens at all times in this day and age. That's where activities such as summer reading, camps, and sports programs come into play. These activities give young people something productive and healthy to do, whether it is something to keep the mind stimulated or something to keep them social and active.

Progress, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Hen Hatch’s Final Round

Hen Hatch, Horn Entrepreneurship’s premier startup funding competition, has finally come to a close after the third and final round was held on Thursday, Dec. 1 at The Tower Audion at UD’s STAR Campus. The final round marks the culmination of a months-long competition, with many of our teams having worked for years on their startups. The six teams that moved on from the semifinal round showcased their most persuasive pitches for the event, each vying for 1st place spot in their respective tracks and the prizes that come with it.

Summer’s Grand Finale: Demo Day Recapped

Horn Entrepreneurship’s pre-accelerator program, Summer Founders, ended with Demo Day on August 18, 2022. Demo Day is a showcase for entrepreneurial students seeking help from our community. Held in-person for the first time in three years, the room was filled with University of Delaware alumni, former Summer Founders, Horn team members and notable entrepreneurs and business leaders. The agenda included presentations by the 2022 Summer Founders and selected Summer Founders alumni, a networking reception and award ceremony.
