Horn Entrepreneurship is pleased to announce all of the success and honors our fantastic community of creators, scientists and doers have accomplished this quarter.

Winners of the Hen Hatch competition were announced during its final round on Tuesday, April 30 at the Queen in Wilmington, Delaware.

The University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship recently hosted The Out of This World Pitch Party at the Venture Development Center, complete with 20 student pitch presentations and a $1,200 prize pool.

Each spring, Horn Entrepreneurship recognizes entrepreneurial students through awards and scholarships totaling almost $10,000 in cash and Venture Development Center credit. Undergraduate students from all majors are invited to apply now through Friday, March 29 at 11:59 p.m.

Twelve teams from the student track and another 12 teams from the alumni, faculty and staff track are advancing to the semifinal round of the University of Delaware’s 2019 Hen Hatch startup funding competition. 

Ahad Behboodi and his advisor, Dr. Samuel Lee, of DEAFO, recently participated in the University of Delaware I-Corps Site program with a new lightweight soft ankle-foot orthosis device that is intended to treat children with Cerebral Palsy. Through the I-Corps Site program, Behboodi and his team connected with the Horn Entrepreneurship community of entrepreneurs and creators while also learning about business models and customer discovery, the entrepreneurial method to determine the best problem-solution fit.

Hen Hatch, University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship’s premier startup funding competition, returns in spring 2019 to provide students, alumni, faculty and staff an excellent funding opportunity as well as the chance to get in-depth feedback from seasoned entrepreneurs and investors. Outside of being a fantastic platform to pitch your ideas, Hen Hatch provides the amazing chance to explore ideas and passions more fully, something that everyone in the UD community can take advantage of, win, lose or draw!
