
From agricultural robotics and adaptive fitness to digital platforms and healthcare innovations, student entrepreneurs are bringing bold ideas and fresh perspectives to the 2026 Hen Hatch competition. Ten ventures have been selected to advance to the semifinals, where student entrepreneurs will take the next step toward turning their ideas into impactful businesses.Hosted by Horn Entrepreneurship, Hen Hatch is the University of Delaware's premier startup funding competition, giving undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to develop their business concepts, receive valuable feedback and compete for a share of $50,000 in cash and prizes.

Agri Sky Eye
Arjun Nanda Kumar | Graduate Student, Robotics | 2027
Agri Sky Eye is an overhead cable-driven robot designed to detect and selectively spray weeds in high-value specialty crops. Built for farms of up to 10 acres, the technology aims to reduce the labor required for manual weeding while helping growers manage their crops more efficiently.

ContentCraze is a platform that allows brands to launch marketing campaigns where thousands of user-generated content creators promote their products or services, helping businesses expand their reach through creator-driven content.

Prediction Wizard is a points-based mobile platform that allows friends to create predictions about custom events, track outcomes and compete on shared leaderboards. Inspired by popular prediction platforms, Prediction Wizard brings the excitement of making predictions to friendly competitions without involving real-money betting.
Rivulet
Annamalai Muthupalaniappan | Graduate Student, Mechanical Engineering | 2030
Rivulet is a low-cost agricultural robot that travels along existing center-pivot irrigation systems to monitor crop health and soil moisture. Designed for agricultural research programs and high-value crop growers, the technology provides field-level data without requiring additional infrastructure, drone operators or manual data collection.
What's next?
The semifinalists will pitch their ventures on October 16, competing for a place in the Hen Hatch Finals on December 3 at the Blue Hen Innovation Fest.
Each team will have seven minutes to pitch their venture, followed by a five-minute Q&A session with a panel of judges, including Neals Frage, Bill Luzier, Lindsay Pennington, Kristen Scott, Claudius Taylor and Jaimie Watts.
The semifinals will take place without an audience, and following their presentations, teams will have the opportunity to receive feedback and guidance from seasoned entrepreneurs and industry professionals during mentoring sessions. Providing feedback and guidance to the semifinalist teams are Elyce Hall, Scott Lugar, Bhavani Shankar, Claudius Taylor and Andrea Thompson.
