VentureOn 2024: Honoring Environmental Ventures

VentureOn 2024: Honoring Environmental Ventures

VentureOn is a semester-long program that necessitates an application process. It enables students to validate a problem and develop a practical solution within their areas of interest. These projects may address social issues, business concepts, or product ideas. Students participating in the program come from diverse universities and have a wide range of majors and areas of study.

Second Chance Bazaar

Second Chance Bazaar is a venture that aims to reduce paper waste by recycling paper to give it a second life and decrease the amount that goes into landfills. This venture would also like to reduce tree-cutting to some extent.

Innovation Snapshot:

Discussing the raw materials we need, budgeting, and preliminary procedures to make paper.

Impact and Future Plans:

Would like to learn more about how to make a sustainable model that can either be scaled up or remain profitable.

EcoTure

Water pollution due to improper disposal of plastic and over-usage of wood in the furniture industry. The team has seen how the  consumption of plastic affects animals and finds it very disturbing that millions of marine animals die every year due to the consumption of plastic

Innovation Snapshot:

Still in the planning stage. Has done a very small customer discovery survey.

Impact and Future Plans:
Aspirations to create a design and build a prototype.

Development of artificial Mangroves- (Mangrove Mimicry integrated desalination Pump)

Farmers are facing issues with the fertility of agricultural land due to high saline sea-water intrusion and coastal infrastructure is prone to damage due to coastal erosion. The development of artificial mangroves would help the agricultural field salinity.

Innovation Snapshot:

Working on brainstorming and a feasibility study.

Impact and Future Plans:

The team is very novice in this field but is excited for this venture to expose them to this part of agriculture.

We express our heartfelt appreciation to all the distinguished teams that participated in this year's VentureOn program, such as Second Chance Bazaar, EcoTure, Birds Eye View, Fridge Mates, and Development of Artificial Mangroves. Your active engagement and dedication are deeply valued. Your commitment to exploring inventive solutions and tackling real-world challenges embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and forward-thinking that VentureOn seeks to cultivate. The distinct perspectives and contributions of each team have greatly enhanced the program. Thank you for being an essential part of VentureOn.
