For University of Delaware entrepreneurs in the research fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, the National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (NSF I-Corps) provides innovators with the opportunity to take their projects from the laboratory to the marketplace.

Applications for the 16th cohort are due by 5 p.m. this Friday, March 13th.

I-Corps participants will be able to engage with industry; speak and network with customers, partners, and competitors directly; and develop their innovation with their I-Corps team.

For I-Corps teams, available resources offered at Horn Entrepreneurship will include entrepreneurial training from experienced instructors, and connections to professionals in both technical and business fields. Teams will have 24/7 access to the Venture Development Center co-working space, as well as opportunities to receive more funding.

The I-Corps Sites program provides specialized training and mini grants of up to $3,000 for teams to transform their academic research into product commercialization.

“We learned the entire customer segment by talking to our potential customers,” Abhishek Iyer, previous I-Corps cohort member and entrepreneurial lead for SHIO, a solar energy venture, said. “Also, we had several hypotheses which were invalidated by our potential customers. This helped us to pivot and keep moving forward.”

All University of Delaware undergraduates, graduates, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, and staff are eligible to apply. All teams must have an entrepreneurial lead, academic lead, and external mentor. Teams may include additional students.
