The basis of entrepreneurialism is to make life easier for the community. By bearing the process of creating a startup, an entrepreneur finds solutions to an issue, which makes someone’s day a bit easier. Through the University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship, students can pursue new ideas while receiving world-class education and advice to help their ideas flourish. No idea is too big or small, too niche or broad.

Once a molecular biology major, Lynn Roberts’ academic journey and interests took a drastic turn from science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) when she delved deeper into the University of Delaware’s Horn Entrepreneurship.  

“An entrepreneur does not seek to solve the problem right. An entrepreneur seeks to solve the right problem; a problem that leads to a method to make money. An entrepreneur’s job is not to build a product. An entrepreneur’s job is to build a method to make money. Too often folks miss these insights. If we grasped these insights, less time and money would be wasted. If we grasped these insights more value and good would be created.” – Vince DiFelice

After a record number of team submissions, the finalists for Hen Hatch 2021, University of Delaware’s much-anticipated premier startup competition, have been announced. The submissions this year have been from a wide range of industries, colleges, and interests.

Horn Entrepreneurship and E-Club will be hosting the 2021 Fall Pitch Party virtually on October 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. The Pitch Party is an event hosted each semester in which undergraduate students pitch a startup idea in 90 seconds for a new business, innovation or invention in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

As 2020 Hen Hatch finalists prepare for the busy days ahead leading up to the Hen Hatch competition’s final round where everyone is invited to attend on Dec. 3.
