Horn Entrepreneurship is happy to announce that we recently welcomed a new faculty member to the community, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship Duygu Phillips. Phillips joins us from Oklahoma State University, where she worked as a postdoctoral researcher after earning her Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship to complement a master’s degree in marketing from the University of Birmingham(UK) and undergraduate degrees from Galatasaray University in communications as well as advertising and public relations.

Phillips brings with her 15 years of experience in marketing consulting, including founding and running her own company. Launched in Oklahoma in 2012, Naming House is an agency that creates branding strategies and brand names for new ventures and products in various sectors. Comprised of a small team of international branding experts, Naming House has helped develop 250 strategies, 200 names, and 100 slogans across 25 industries in eight different languages.

She is also a published author, penning Ismin Marka Hali, the first book published in Turkey about brand naming for products, services and companies. The book is a manual that explains and discusses different techniques used to name brands, mistakes often made in naming brands to watch out for, the stories behind some popular name brands, and examples of good and bad brand names. It is intended for advertising and marketing professionals, copywriters, entrepreneurs naming new products and services, and university professors to use in the classroom.

Learn more about Duygu Phillips and what she will focus on during her time at the University of Delaware by reading a Q&A session held with her as part of the Lerner Welcomes New Faculty series.
