When 17-year-old Hüseyin Demir Gökpinar attended the Investor Insights Panel at the [2026 Limitless World Summit](https://limitlessworldsummit.org) hosted by the University of Delaware’s [Horn Entrepreneurship](https://www.udel.edu/research-innovation/horn/), he expected to gain insider knowledge from investment professionals at Chartline Capital, W.L. Gore & Associates, Caterpillar Inc., Soundboard Venture Fund and Archangel’s Axion Fund. In addition to learning about the realities of a venture capital career, Gökpinar left the panel with a new perspective encouraging him to seize all the opportunities the conference had to offer.

“Listening to the leaders of the business world made me ambitious,” said the Turkish student, for whom the chance to learn from financial leaders became real sitting in a convention room at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington. It reminded him that the summit — two full days of engaging in workshops from business experts alongside other young entrepreneurs — was a rare privilege that inspired him to step out of his comfort zone and forge new connections.

“‘What is stopping me?’ I thought, and just went for it. It definitely paid off,” said Gökpinar, for whom that mentality opened doors beyond the Limitless World Summit.

A student at METU Development Foundation High School in Mersin, Turkey, Gökpinar had planned to compete alongside his classmates in the nationwide GençBizz High School Entrepreneurship Competition, in which students develop and showcase their own startup companies in the GençBizz Turkey Final. After another student was named CEO of his group’s startup, Gökpinar decided to transform a setback into an opportunity. He began researching international entrepreneurship competitions and discovered the Diamond Challenge at Limitless World Summit where he could exhibit another innovation.

“I started working on a new startup and, eventually, I got in,” said Gökpinar, whose team advanced to the second round of pitching with his venture idea Depictly, a design platform that makes website creation more accessible for beginners. While his team didn’t advance to the final round, Gökpinar was invited to attend the summit as an ambassador, a pathway for students who exhibit a passion for solving real-world problems and building connections across cultures.

“I love meeting new people from different cultures so being an ambassador and getting the chance to hear ideas from different countries was really interesting to be part of,” said Gökpinar.

When he arrived at the summit, he brought an energy and enthusiasm to the ambassador role that didn't go unnoticed.

“I had been at the conference for two days, so I saw how he continually showed up,” said Veronica Fey, the executive director of Soundboard Impact Foundation Inc., who attended the summit both as a panelist and to select the winners of the Human Flourishing Prize. “When I wasn’t necessarily presenting or evaluating, I sat in a particular room and watched who was coming in and out. \[Gökpinar\] was at almost every single event I attended, and when he was in those events, he was showing up with his hand raised or, if it was to participate, he was the first to jump in.”

According to Fey, Gökpinar was one of the students who approached her after her panel to share his interest in her field. His enthusiasm motivated her to invite him to apply to an internship program she runs through Soundboard Venture Fund that gives high school students hands-on experience in early-stage venture capital.

“As a Turkish student, we don’t really get chances like this,” said Gökpinar, whose school was supportive of the opportunity. “\[My principal\] spared me a classroom and, after the meeting, I jumped for joy and ran off to tell my friends and teachers that I got the job. It was unimaginable.”

Alongside other students recruited at the summit, Gökpinar joined Soundboard Venture Fund’s Limitless Cohort, a fully remote internship lasting for nearly eight weeks over the summer, and acquired skills related to data management and computer analysis. Reporting directly to Fey, Gökpinar was tasked with interpreting information on company leads and inputting it into Soundboard’s database. Fey noted his data entry was an important first step in the process of evaluating potential investments, helping the Soundboard team determine whether a company met their investment profile. He was also assigned additional research projects investigating new companies — projects that reflected his signature initiative.

“As with all of my experience with Demir, he is always raising his hand whenever these opportunities come up,” said Fey.

In addition to knowledge of the industry, the internship also gave Gökpinar real-world experience, setting him up for success when he enters his first professional role. Fey explained that the work she assigned the Limitless Cohort directly impacted her own, which prepared them to understand the pressures and realities of an entry-level position.

“Everything they were working on had a direct effect on me. If you didn’t deliver your output on time, that meant I couldn’t do my job,” said Fey, noting that while it may not be a glamorous lesson, it’s an important one that taught them how to balance being a cog and a visionary.

This type of experiential learning emphasizes the importance of the Limitless World Summit, providing young innovators from all over the world with access and information they wouldn’t have received otherwise. The values of both Soundboard Impact Foundation Inc. and UD’s Horn Entrepreneurship intersect in this way, hoping to offer students a glimpse at the future leadership roles open to them and provide them with learning opportunities to reach those goals.

“I think we need to expose more people who don't traditionally sit in my position so we can add more diversity and empower more innovation. I think that's a component to \[Limitless World Summit\] and Demir is a large part of that,” said Fey.

As he enters 12th grade, Gökpinar is preparing for the next set of challenges ahead. Tasked by his school to help train the next group of students applying to the 2027 Limitless World Summit, Gökpinar will be spending his final year of high school connecting with peers who are similarly passionate about driving positive change — unofficially continuing his role as an ambassador beyond the summit. In the midst of applying for college, Gökpinar also hopes to achieve his childhood dream of attending college in the United States, a goal that his past experience could help him attain.

“Having a venture fund on your resume as early in his career as Demir does, I imagine — if he can compose his story on his college applications — will probably have influence over decision-making. In today's world, everybody that I come into contact with at this age is an exemplary candidate for most institutions, so any tiny bit of leverage \[helps\].”

Just as he chose the bolder path when he applied to the Limitless World Summit, Fey hopes Gökpinar will continue to embrace the spirit of Horn Entrepreneurship and view his future as having “limitless” potential.

“\[The world of venture capital\] brings very ambitious people to it and I think Demir is one of those ambitious people. Hopefully his experience here helps continue to facilitate that ambition, so he has a wonderful impact in whatever the future holds for him,” said Fey.
