ABOUT

BACKGROUND

Summer Founders is University of Delaware’s 12-week pre-accelerator for student startups. Student founders work full-time on their startups and receive mentorship, education and resources to develop and advance their concepts.

STUDENT SUCCESS

Since the inception of Summer Founders in 2016, 20 of 31 UD startups launched and raised more than 3.1 million in follow-on funding. Ventures such as 360VR Technology and AndAgain worked side by side with social ventures like Wilminvest and Lazarus Rising. While not every Summer Founder launches a company, each benefits. Some find a career aligned with their unique interests and passions. Cassidy Nalbone through her startup in the concert venue market created a job with the band Metallica. Matt Phifer’s startup in the physical therapy space led to a position at a multi-location therapy firm and launching a new line of business for the company. John Lowman through his startup in the pharma space is now employed by a venture-backed biotech company. Whether the outcome is a career or startup, most participants point to Summer Founders as a life-changing experience and one of their most influential college experiences.

HORN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Horn Entrepreneurship serves as the creative engine for entrepreneurship education and advancement at the University of Delaware. Currently ranked among the best entrepreneurship programs in the US, Horn Entrepreneurship was built and is actively supported by successful entrepreneurs, empowering aspiring innovators as they pursue new ideas for a better world.
