Celebrating Innovation: 2024 Entrepreneurship Awards Winners Revealed

Horn Entrepreneurship celebrated the achievements of 13 outstanding University of Delaware undergraduate students by awarding them more than $10,000 in cash and Venture Development Center (VDC) credit. These honors recognize the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit thriving within the university's student body.
Brad & Jennifer Bono Award - $2,000

The Brad and Jennifer Bono Award is granted to an undergraduate student from any UD college, in any major, who demonstrates entrepreneurial leadership and social impact.  

This year’s recipient is Norman Mthethwa, economics major, class of 2027.

Delta Sigma Pi Award

The following award was established to honor the graduate with the highest cumulative grade point index in Lerner College. The awarded students are seniors with a 4.0 GPA.

This year’s recipient is Emilie Delaye, entrepreneurship major, class of 2024.

Distinguished Junior Awards - $50

Distinguished Junior awards are given in recognition of highest academic achievement through the junior year. 

This year’s recipients are Jacob Zaidman, entrepreneurship major, class of 2025;  Sierra RyanWallick, entrepreneurship major, class of 2025; and Hunter Wills, entrepreneurship major, class of 2025.

 Distinguished Senior Awards - $250

Distinguished Senior awards are given in recognition of highest academic achievement through the senior year.

This year’s recipients are Ethan David Wales, entrepreneurship major, class of 2024; Logan Snapp, entrepreneurship major, class of 2023.

Horn Award - $1,500

The Horn Entrepreneurship Award is funded by annual gifts from the faculty who teach ENTR-designated courses. The award is intended to be used for the pursuit of a specific new venture or educational opportunity related to creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation or leadership.

This year’s recipient is Samantha McGhee, entrepreneurship and fashion merchandising and management double major, class of 2024. 

Outstanding Service to the Program - $250

The Outstanding Service to the Program Award is presented to the student who exemplifies the spirit of Horn Entrepreneurship and the willingness to invest the time and energy for the enrichment of the community.

This year’s recipient is Olivia Jin, Human Services major, class of 2026.

Outstanding Student Leader of Venture Support - $250

The Outstanding Student Leader of Venture Support Award is presented to the student who helps lead and develop other student ventures while working on their own. 

This year’s recipient is Emilie Delaye, entrepreneurship major, class of 2024.

Pfeil Family Award for VentureOn - $250

The Pfeil Family Award is given to a student who is a member of the VentureOn community, has used all resources provided through VentureOn, has taken at least one ENTR course, demonstrated entrepreneurial promise and will realize immediate benefit from receipt of the award. 

This year’s recipients are Saumya Agrawal, management major and entrepreneurship minor, class of 2025; Alex Berman, mechanical engineering major, class of 2025; and Norman Mthethwa, economics major, class of 2027.

Rysheema Dixon Legacy Award - $2,000

The Rysheema Dixon Legacy Award is awarded to University of Delaware student social innovators and entrepreneurs who best exemplify Rysheema Dixon’s commitment to improving the lives of others through social innovation.

This year’s recipient is Emilie Delaye, entrepreneurship major, class of 2024.

Shawn & Sheryl McCall Awards for Entrepreneurship - $2,500

Two McCall Awards for Entrepreneurship are granted to undergraduate students from any UD college, in any major, who show entrepreneurial promise. 

This year’s recipients are McKinley Lynn, entrepreneurship and marketing double major, class of 2026, and  Jenna Tomasch, apparel design major and entrepreneurship minor, class of 2025.
