Horn Entrepreneurship and E-Club will be hosting the 2021 Fall Pitch Party virtually on October 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. The Pitch Party is an event hosted each semester in which undergraduate students pitch a startup idea in 90 seconds for a new business, innovation or invention in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
With experienced judges and an accepting audience, the competitors are able to present their ideas in an environment that will not only give them feedback, but help them further their ideas. Registration by October 19 is required for both those pitching ideas and those attending in the audience. Spots are filled on a first come, first served basis, so register as soon as possible to secure your spot.
Who is eligible to pitch?
All undergraduate students from any major and any college are welcome to pitch, and graduate students are allowed to participate when part of a team including undergraduate students. However, graduate students may not present, they may only answer questions posed by the judges. Students or teams who are pitching must register in advance.
Who is eligible to watch?
All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to watch as UD students pitch innovative ideas for a chance to bring their proposals to a larger stage. Please register in advance.
Where is the Pitch Party held?
The Fall Pitch Party will be held on zoom this semester. You will receive a link after you register.
What do contestants win?
It depends on the track.
Winners in the beginner track will receive reimbursable funds toward startup costs: $750 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.
Winners in the advanced track will win an automatic spot to pitch in the Hen Hatch semifinals.
There will be some fun topical prizes as well!
What are the tracks and what do they mean?
There are two tracks: beginner and advanced.
Why is it called a party?
It’s supposed to be fun and low key. The two tracks give opportunities to students who are new to pitching or in the early stage of idea development as well as to students who are refining their pitches and looking to practice. The judges are a panel of alumni who have been in the pitchers’ shoes. The feedback they give is to help improve the students’ ideas.
Not ready for the Pitch Party?
That’s ok. Register to watch and see how it goes. The next Pitch Party will be held in the spring and you can try then.
