All you need is an idea...
The Pitch Party is designed for those new to pitching an idea. As part of a larger party celebrating our aspiring UD entrepreneurs, all UD undergrad students have the opportunity to pitch an entrepreneurial idea to an audience of their peers in front of a panel of judges made up of young UD entrepreneurial alumni.
Prizes/Awards:
- Contestants will win a combined $1,500 in startup resources and prizes.
- Topical awards
- Door prizes for the virtual audience. Qualify by registering by March 22, 11:59 p.m.

- Presenters: deadline to register is 11:59 p.m. on March 21, 2021, or when 20 applications are accepted.
- Spectators: deadline to register is 5:30 p.m. March 23, 2022. last email with zoom link sent at 5:35 p.m.

Daniel Lee
Daniel Lee is an assistant professor of entrepreneurship at the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from Georgia State University (GSU), and holds his B.A. in mathematics and economics from Emory University.
Isabella Duarte
Isabella will act as the emcee for the evening. Isabella is a Junior Entrepreneurship major at the University of Delaware. She is the founder of Dear Volunteer and an avid volunteer herself. Issy can always be found circled by her peers discussing how to help others succeed.
About Pitch Party
Submission Criteria & Competition Rules
- Only UD undergraduates are eligible to pitch. If your undergraduate team includes graduate students, only undergraduate students may pitch.
- Hen Hatch Finalists are NOT eligible to pitch.
- Hen Hatch Semifinalists are eligible to pitch the same Pitch/Idea.
- Maximum of 1 entry per person/team.
- Pitches must be no more than 90 seconds in length.
- Pitches may be formal, informal, creative, comedic it’s up to you so long as you pitch the idea intended.
- Props or prototypes are permitted. Recognize, you have 90 seconds.
- The Director of Horn Entrepreneurship shall be the arbiter of all rules and rule clarifications.
FAQ:
What is the zoom link?
A link will be sent to registered guests two days before the event.
How do I register if I’m presenting by myself or presenting with a team?
Follow the link to the registration page. When registering, you will be prompted to populate your information and if warranted, that of your team members as well as a brief description of your idea and PowerPoint slide (see details below).
When is the registration deadline?
The registration deadline for presenters is March 21 at 11:59 p.m. Spectators must register to attend by 5:30 p.m. on March 23 to receive a zoom link.
Do I need a slide presentation?
YES. BUT just ONE slide is permitted. Recognize, you have 90 seconds. Minimum requirement = write your team name, your name (and names of team members if warranted) on the slide.
What if I want to pitch, but there are no spots left?
Send an email message to Horn Entrepreneurship <hornprogram@udel.edu> and ask to be placed on the Pitch Party waiting list. Occasionally, a contestant may drop out. If so, we will contact you (sometimes as late as 5pm the day of the event; be ready if called upon).
Presenter Details:
- Participants will have 90 seconds to pitch their ideas. Pitch alone or as a team.
- Only 20 presenters are invited to pitch. Most commonly that is the first twenty who apply.
- You must register to receive the zoom link. The competition begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends by 8:00 p.m.
